Good to know

Fez is the spiritual capital of Morocco.  Dress respectfully but there is no need to wear a head covering for ladies.

UNESCO says that the Old Medina in Fez is the largest pedestrian area in the world. It is also the largest arab medina in the world.

There are no cars allowed in the Medina however, there are plenty of donkeys. Wear appropriate walking shoes that can handle what the donkeys leave behind.

They speak Arabic, French, and English – in that order. And any language if you want to buy.

At the time of writing this: One Euro is worth about 11 Dirhams. One CHF is worth about 9 Dirhams. There are Cash Machines where you can take Dirhams with your Debit card or Credit card.

One event not to miss in Fes in the World Festival of Scared Music that takes place every year in May. See: Festival Des Musiques Sacrées du Monde

What to buy:  Leather goods at the tannery. Ceramics.
